A magical blend of Irish and world folk music is coming to the High Peak.

The Emma Sweeney Trio will be performing at St George’s Church, New Mills, on September 17 at 8pm.

Emma Sweeney is a fiddle player and singer from Manchester who is of Irish parentage.

Nominated for two Songlines music awards, Emma received an Emerging Excellence Award from Help Musicians UK, which enabled her to study at the world famous Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts in India.

Since studying classical cello at the Yehudi Menuhin school and The Royal Northern College of Music, Ben Cashell has played with Once star Glen Hansard, singer-songwriter JP Cooper, jazz guitarist Stuart McCallum and songstress Rioghnach Connolly.

Jack Rutter is a well respected guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for his highly rhythmic tune backing, flatpicking and fingerstyle playing with ‘Moore Moss Rutter’, and the Seth Lakeman Band.

Their concert is in support of New Mills Community Festival.
