ALL-FEMALE hip-hop dance sensation Decadance is swapping the bright lights of the Big Apple for the rolling hills of Derbyshire as they bring an outstanding triple-bill of work to the Buxton Opera House stage.
Brooklyn-based Decadance have redefined the image of women in hip-hop, becoming key ambassadors of authentic, New York City hip-hop culture around the world.
On Thursday September 27, at 7.30pm, they will bring an outstanding triple-bill to Buxton: When the Sky Breaks 3D, City Breathing and a new work yet to be confirmed. This evening of knockout performance fuses old-school hip-hop styles with cutting edge 3D video technology, taking the dancers into an abstract world where b-boying (breakdance), popping and house dance come alive against a city morphing from solid to liquid.
The Decadance crew interacts with the 3D universe as the pure joy and spirit of dance transforms the buildings into rain and the streets into oceans. Embracing the fluid side of hip-hop, the dancers float, slide, spin, wave and balance as the projections and choreography seamlessly merge together.
Tickets for Decadance, priced £12, are available from the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk. A free after-show question and answer session with the company will be held in the Stalls.
