Organisers of the Buxton Music, Speech and Drama Festival will be anxiously watching the post for the next two weeks – not because they expect Valentine’s cards, but because entries for the annual festival close on Friday February 14.
The May festival celebrates amateur music and drama, providing opportunities for children, young people and adults to perform in both a competitive and non-competitive, supportive environment.
This year’s festival will feature classes for school choirs, school singers and school pianists on Friday May 9, open piano, singing, choirs and strings on May 10, and woodwind, brass, junior vocalists, drama and ensembles on May 17.
In a new venture, supported by Buxton Festival’s Ukulele Day which takes place on Saturday February 1, there will be ukulele classes to enter, and a prize class sponsored by Muzik and More for ukulele beginners.
