Celebration of the arts during Tidza Wakes

TIDESWELL Church is preparing to launch a week-long arts festival to coincide with Tideswell Wakes and Welldressing.

A series of free concerts will take place in or near the beautiful and historic church, emphasising local and visiting talent.

Events get underway on Saturday at 7.30pm with an Open Mike night, followed on Monday June 20 at 1.15pm by a performance from Bishop Pursglove Primary School Choir, and at 6.30pm by Maypole Dancing and Cheerleading in the Pot Market by pupils.

Jonathan P Eyre will give an organ recital on Wednesday June 22 at 1.15pm, while at 7.30pm Tideswell Singers perform A La Carte and Tideswell Community Players perform The Legion Dinner by Nick Brelsford.

The following day, Thursday June 23, students from Hope Valley College will perform at 1.15pm, followed at 7.30pm by music from John Reynolds and St John’s Choir, and at 8.30pm by a Folk Night at the Horse and Jockey. The festival culminates at 7.30pm on Friday June 24 with a folk concert by Samson and Delilah.
