THERE’S still time to get your tickets to meet the Military Wives this weekend.
The Armed Forces heroines are to perform a sell-out concert at Buxton Opera House on Sunday.
But Buxton businesses have rallied round to treat the ladies to a weekend’s stay in the town – which will include an appearance at Buxton Football Club’s Silverlands ground on Saturday afternoon from 1pm.
This additional performance will include the Military Wives singing alongside Tideswell Male Voice Choir and pupils from Harpur Hill Primary School, Fairfield Endowed Junior School and St Anne’s Primary School, and include a rendition of their recent number one hit ‘Sing’.
With Buxton FC away at Hednesford Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, the club will host an as yet unconfirmed local football game after the performance.
Buxton FC Director Paul Jenner said: “Everyone who purchases tickets for Saturday’s performance will be able to gain free admission to Buxton’s home game against Blyth Spartans on Non League Day, October 13.”
Thanks to the support of local businesses, including M Markovitz, Lomas Distribution and Tarmac, the Military Wives will be accommodated at the Palace Hotel, be guests of honour at a dinner on Saturday hosted by Edwina Currie, and receive complimentary spa and beauty treatments and a luxury gift bag.
Tickets for the Saturday afternoon performance, priced £15 for adults, £10 for concessions and £40 for a family of four, are available from Muzik and More in Buxton, Mac Burnham Butchers in Chapel-en-le-Frith or via the ticket hotline on 01298 72955.
Advance ticket purchase is advised, although a limited number will be available on the day.
