A troupe of budding dancers has been chosen for this year’s Buxton Opera House traditional family pantomime Cinderella.
The 20 young performers have been cast to appear in the classic rags-to-riches story which will be performed at the Opera House from Thursday December 12 to Wednesday January 1.
The girls will perform on alternate dates during the three-week run, sharing the stage with two well-known TV celebrities.
Sarah Thomas, best known for her long-running role in Last of the Summer Wine, will play Cinderella’s magical Fairy Godmother, while children’s favourite Jonny Freeman, who plays a leading role in the popular CBBC sci-fi adventure series, M.I. High, will take on the comedy role of Buttons.
Writer/director Philip Dart promises a memorable show: “Cinderella is one of the nation’s best-loved stories and the production will build on all the magical elements that children love whilst ensuring there is plenty of humour to keep the mums and dads entertained.”
Olivia Sloyan, fresh from the acclaimed musical Blood Brothers, will return to the Opera House in the title role.
Tickets for Cinderella, priced from £16 to £21, are available from the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
