West End leading lady Maria Friedman is to make her Buxton Opera House debut next month with her award-winning concert.
Known as ‘the greatest show singer of her generation’, Friedman brings to the Water Street theatre on Saturday February 9 a show that includes songs from her Great British Songbook album, plus a splash of Sondheim.
Friedman created and performed leading parts in the musicals Passion, The Woman in White (both West End and Broadway), Chicago, Ragtime and Sunday in the Park with George, among many others.
She was awarded with three Olivier Awards and received an amazing seven nominations.
She can be heard on various original cast albums, and has recorded seven solo CDs - including her latest, The Great British Songbook.
Theatre concerts include sell-outs in New York, and at London’s Barbican, Royal Albert Hall and Cadogan Hall.
The show starts at 7.30pm and features piano accompaniment from her musical director, Jason Carr.
