Thousands of tourists are expected to converge on Tissington for the annual well dressings from May 17 to 23, when six wells will be decorated in the village.
Visitors will gather in and around St Mary’s Church, on Ascension Day, May 17, at 11am for the annual blessing of the wells service.
The Guest Preacher this year is Canon Andy Broom, Director of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese of Derby.
After the service there will be the procession and blessing of the wells. The Vicar of Tissington, Rev Andy Larkin, will officiate at the service and lead his fellow clergy around the village.
Each well has a team of 20-30 volunteers that contribute to the setting up of the dressing and the event.
The collages take roughly 200 ‘man hours’ to create and are often of biblical themes and images.
During the week, the village welcomes about 35,000 visitors.
