AFTER missing last year, the Flash Rose Queen Festival is set to return this Saturday, May 21.
Organisers are trying very hard to keep this traditional social event alive and for it to continue into the future for the benefit of all the local community in the Quarnford area.
The day will start with a short church service taken by the Rev James Forrester at 1.30pm, followed by the crowning and entertainment in Flash Village Hall at 2pm.
The new Rose Queen is to be Miss Jenny Hancock, and her attendants will be Mr Russell Barber, Miss Samantha Barber and Miss Eden Hargreaves.
Playing a medley of tunes during the course of the afternoon is a new resident to the area, Steven Hargreaves, a talented pianist. He will also accompany the new Rose Queen, and the children from Flash School when they sing.
There will be strawberry cream teas, music, an abundance of cakes, plants, tombola and stalls to enjoy.
