Disney classic offers a touch of movie magic

A SCREENING of Disney’s magical fairytale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is to take place in New Mills next week.

The special half-term event will take place at New Mills Town Hall on Saturday October 22, at 3pm.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) is still the most thrilling story ever told by Walt Disney.

The film was known in Hollywood as “Disney’s folly” because no one believed that audiences would sit through a full-length cartoon, which had never been made before. The film was a triumph and international success and swept the world.

It will be introduced by Robin Allan, acclaimed author of the award-winning Walt Disney and Europe.

A presentation will also take place in aid of Spring Bank Arts Centre, which will be opening next year in the old St James’ chapel.

Special family tickets, priced £12 and admitting an adult and two or more children, are available.

Single tickets are £5.50 (£4 concessions and children).

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Prizes will be up for grabs for those going dressed in a Disney costume.

Tickets are on sale now at New Mills Original, or from Robin Allan on 01663 742809 or Philip Kendall on 01663 746074.

Friends of St James’ members will receive 50p off advance bookings.

Refreshments will also be available.
