The first solo exhibition of work by interdisciplinary artist Sandra Bouguerch is due to open at The Studios gallery in New Mills.

‘Handle With Care’ gives an intimate look into the world the artist shares with her elderly father Terrence.

For Bolton-based artist Bouguerch, the body has always been both her subject and medium, and her latest exhibition utilises various media, including performance, video and photography to draw the viewer into the emotional dilemmas of caring for an elderly relative struggling with symptoms of dementia.

Terrence is a willing participant in the artist’s investigations and has even gone as far as signing an agreement for future use when he is unable to make an informed decision to be involved.

‘Handle With Care’ opens with a preview at the Union Road gallery on Friday January 17, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, during which Bouguerch will be staging an emotive performance. The exhibition continues until February 21 and will be available to view on Thursdays between 11am and 7pm, Fridays from 11am to 4pm or by appointment on 07753 842 861.
