GET READY to quick-step your way to Buxton Opera House for the third annual dance festival for schools, children and adults.
Jump! 2011 runs at the arts venue from Monday February 14 to Saturday February 19.
The feel-good festival will feature workshops and performances from professional dance companies, as well as 24 schools performing to an invited audience in a special partnership project with Buxton Community School.
Ludus Dance will be presenting their jaw-dropping show Consequences – a triple bill of dance pieces from three of the most prominent choreographers in the country – on Thursday February 17.
Themes in this theatre spectacle include the effects of order and chaos on our lives, while poking fun at our fame-hungry society.
Workshops available to children during the festival include: Yoga Stories, a workshop which illustrates stories about walking in the woods through yoga moves on Wednesday February 16; Lucy Elastic, an imaginative workshop about playing in the park will take place on Saturday February 19; and Escape to Space, a dance workshop about an alien who wants to fly to earth will commence Saturday February 19.
Adult workshops include: Beginners Yoga, an open class of yoga with experienced teacher, Katherine Rushton on Wednesday February 16; and Just Dance!, a workshop teaching sequences from Ludus Dance Company’s show, Consequences, will take place on Wednesday February 16.
