KINDER Children’s Choirs’ new season gets off to a fizzing start on Saturday October 6, at 7.30pm, with the annual Bux Fizz concert at St John’s Church in Buxton.

This will be the fifth year of the Bux Fizz series, where an internationally-known opera singer shares the stage with the choirs. This year’s guest soloist is tenor Nicky Spence.

Fast emerging as one of Britain’s finest young singers, Spence’s recordings have twice been nominated for a classical Brit Award and he has been hailed as one of Scotland’s greatest singing exports.

“It is going to be an evening of distinction,” said choir director Joyce Ellis. “The choirs and audience alike are going to love Nicky, who is full of personality and such a great entertainer and singer.”

Tickets, priced £10, can be purchased from Brooke Taylor solicitors, the Quadrant, Buxton, or from Jean Forrest on 01663 743041.

The choir rehearses at Whaley Bridge Uniting Church, on Mondays from 5.15pm to 6pm for trainee girls, and Tuesdays from 5pm to 5.45pm for trainee boys. New recruits are welcome.
