The smash-hit musical Grease will be the one that everyone wants to watch when it hits the New Mills Art Theatre stage next month.
A talented cast is already hand-jiving its way through rehearsals at electrifying speed ahead of the opening of a four night, five show run at the Jodrell Street theatre.
Set in 1950s America, it tells the story of ‘bad boy’ Danny and ‘the girl next door’ Sandy, who fall in love against the backdrop of the Rydell High School.
Renowned for its foot-tappingly infectious tunes, the show will feature classics such as Greased Lightnin’ and ‘You’re the One That I Want’.
The set has been built especially for the show by a professional backstage crew – all volunteers and members of New Mills Amateur & District Operatic & Dramatic Society (NMAODS).
With experienced dramatic and musical direction from Martyn Preston and Tim Walker, plus high energy and sharp choreography from Angela Draper, audiences can expect to be rockin’, shakin’ and rollin’ in their seats.
Grease will be performed from Wednesday June 11 to Saturday June 14, each evening at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 3.30pm.
Tickets, priced £12 and £10 (boxes £60 seat five people), can be purchased at www.newmillsarttheatre.ticketsource.co.uk, or on 0777 128 9794. The box office is open on Sundays from 2pm-4pm.
Tickets will also be on sale on the door before performances.
