ACCESS to a field in Whaley Bridge for agricultural purposes has been granted by High Peak planners – despite fears that it could affect locals' car parking.
Concerns were expressed by councillors over the potential loss of the car parking spaces along New Horwich Road, where access to the field would be obtained.

High Peak Borough Council's Development Control Committee heard on Monday how the application was a revision of a previous consent granted last July.

The new application called for an increase in the access from three metres to 3.6 metres.

Cllr John Pritchard said: "There's concern among residents that an unspecified number of car parking spaces will be lost on New Horwich Road."

However, members heard there had been no objection by the highway authority.

In light of concerns by residents over lack of progress on the previous application, a time limit was imposed which required work on site to be carried out within the next six months.

Cllr Linda Baldry added: "I am concerned why nothing has been done."
