WHALEY BRIDGE is set to get a brand new dental service from next month.
The new service opens to patients from April 7 and will be operated by the town's Goyt Valley Medical Practice, which has been extensively refurbished to incorporate three new dental suites.
A dedicated phone number is now in operation to ensure that all patients who want an appointment or treatment at the new centre, which will be renamed Goyt Valley Medical and Dental Practice, will be able to do so and it will also allow patients to g
o to the surgery when they need a course of treatment or have a dental health need.

Two experienced dentists will run the practice, with one starting on April 1 and another at the end of the month. The practice are also seeking to employ a dental hygiene therapist to start work later in the year.

Jackie Pendleton, head of commissioning at Derbyshire County PCT said: "Improving access to dental services throughout the county is a key priority for Derbyshire County PCT, and these new dental services will hopefully provide people in Whaley with high quality NHS dental services from Goyt Valley Medical Practice's modern, purpose-built practice for generations to come."

A lift has been added to the building to provide better access for disabled or less abled patients and services are expected to be released on a phased basis with the new dentists seeing patients with the most need first. Anyone requiring emergency, out-of-hours dental care should contact NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.

New NHS dental contracts introduced in 2006 mean patients do not have to be registered with a practice for dental assessments and treatment.
For more information about getting an appointment or treatment at the new service, call 0844 655 0222.
