THE SPEED limit along a stretch of the A6 in High Peak has been reduced as part of a nationwide safety review.
Through Furness Vale, between Bridgemont and Newtown, the limit has been cut from 40mph to 30mph.

The existing 30mph limit in Dove Holes has also been extended.

"Using the latest Government guidance, we have reduced the speed limit in these built-up or residential areas on the A6," said Cllr Brian Lucas, Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for environmental services.

"Cutting accidents, deaths and injuries on our roads remains one of our top priorities."

Work to examine around 600 miles of roads across the county started last September.

Each road is judged on its own characteristics, such as accident records, actual speeds of vehicles using the road and whether they are in urban or rural areas.
