COUNCILLOR Jake Walsh is the new chair of Whaley Bridge Town Council.
Cllr Walsh, who was vice chair of the council last year, takes over from Cllr Linda Leather, who held the post for two years.
Cllr Barrie Taylor was elected as vice chair of the council.

Cllr Leather said: "I would just like to say what an honour and privilege it has been to be chairman of this town council. I've been to countless numbers of functions representing the town and can honestly say I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of them."

Cllr Walsh, accepting his position, said: "I'd like to thank Cllr Leather for leading us royally over the last two years. She has done an excellent job."
