THE Friends of Furness Vale Station (FOFVS) are calling on everyone to lend a hand to improve their local environment.
They hope to prise people free of their armchairs to get them involved in their local community by helping on a major green project.

The group will be planting new specimens in the garden and organising a litter collection on the platforms at Furness Vale Station, on Saturday May 16 between 10am and 4pm. The activity is part of CSV Action Earth campaign supported by Morrisons supermarkets.

In addition to the work on the station, FOFVS will be holding its third Scarecrow Competition during the day and there will be a Plant Sale on the station platform.

FOFVS are expecting a large community turn-out on the day to take part in the environmental activities, purchase plants or simply admire the scarecrows.
