WITH second place Nantwich Town not in action, Eastwood Town increased their lead at the top of the Premier Division to six points with a win and a draw.
After winning at Whitby Town in midweek the "Badgers" seemed to be heading for another maximum when they took a two goal lead in the opening quarter of an hour on Saturday at North Ferriby United only to be pegged back by the play-off hopefuls.

Il
keston Town took over in third when they won at Cammell Laird as Hednesford Town continued in a downward spiral with two more defeats and their title hopes are now surely blown after six straight defeats with the latest a 3-0 home loss at the hands of Ossett Town.

Guiseley also conceded ground when they lost 2-1 at Buxton, while Kendal Town will harbour play-off hopes after beating struggling Boston United.

Down in tenth, Ashton United are still in with a shout of the play-offs after beating Leigh Genesis.

At the bottom it was a great week for Workshop Town with wins against Frickley Athletic and joint bottom side Prescot Cables, while Witton Albion won the massive six pointer against Matlock Town, who now find themselves in a spot of bother.

Another club in big trouble are Boston United who simply cannot find the net and two more blanks in a midweek draw against bottom club Leigh Genesis and Saturday's 3-0 reverse at Kendal gives them eleven blanks in their last 13 games.

First Division North leaders Durham City took only one point from six in the week and lost their unbeaten start to life in the UniBond League when they went down at Harrogate Railway on Monday.

They were heading for another loss until an own goal gave them a point at home to FC Halifax Town on Saturday enabling Bamber Bridge to move to within a point of second place Halifax with a win over Curzon Ashton.

Meanwhile, Colwyn Bay are really motoring and stormed in to the play-off slots after another two wins in the week.

Skelmersdale United, in comparison, have lost their way big time and have taken just one point from 15 after losing at home to Lancaster City in midweek and they then lost in the semi-final of the President's Cup to Quorn on Saturday.

Two away wins see Newcastle Blue Star mounting an assault as they pick up on their games in hand.

No doubt about the individual hero of the day with the bottom club's striker Steve Foster hitting all Salford City's goals in a 5-3 win at Lancaster City.

First Division South leaders Retford United increased their lead to nine points with a second half salvo against bottom team Brigg Town who had held Lincoln United to a draw in midweek, but the latter still have the play-offs in their sights despite being down in eighth after beating Leek Town on Saturday.

Glapwell and Rushall Olympic also eye play-off spots with home wins allied to Stamford's defeat at the hands of the latter.
