UNIVERSITY of Derby students are to get concessionary parking in the Pavilion Gardens – while residents have to pay the full amount.
Staff at the university can already buy concessionary passes to use the car park at a cost of £110 a year, and councillors have now agreed to extend that scheme to students as well.
But other individuals will still have to pay the full rate of £13

Cllr Emily Thrane, speaking at a meeting of the council's Executive on Tuesday night, said: "We've been approached by the University asking if students can use it.
"We thought it would be nice if it was open to other individuals and businesses who want to take advantage of term time use or Monday to Friday use.
"The price for this is currently £110, which is with a discount for businesses and the university, or £130 for individuals. Part of the recommendation needs to make clear these tickets are limited."
* There was some good news for residents at the meeting though, as councillors agreed to extend the residents' free parking scheme.
The scheme currently allows for free parking up until 10am and after 4pm in all the council's car parks, excluding the Spring Gardens Centre car park.
From April, the scheme will be extended to provide free parking for residents all day on a Sunday, the council's Executive agreed.
Cllr Thrane said: "We think the residents' car parking concession should be improved by extending it to free parking at any time on a Sunday in all car parks except the Spring Gardens centre."
Cllr David Lomax added: "The whole idea of residents being able to go to the tourist attractions on the weekend without being able to pay is a very good offer."
