BUXTON boss John Reed has strengthened his squad in preparation for the new season with the addition of two new signings.
Mark Hume joins the Bucks from Harrogate while Steve Brodie arrives at the Silverlands having spent last season at Witton Albion.
Hume, 30, joins the Bucks on a one year deal, having scored 16 times for the Blue Square North team last season. The six foot five centre forward centre half has previously played for Barnsley as well as having a spell under John Reed at Stalybridge.
Play off finalists Buxton beat off opposition from several top clubs to capture Hume, including Telford, Hyde, Stalybridge, Hucknall and Alfreton.
Delighted manager John Reed said: "Last year he played for Harrogate and scored 16 goals. "He played 30 odd games as a centre half but I like him as a centre forward and intend to play him as an out and out striker.
"I am absolutely delighted to get him. There have been some big teams trying to get him to sign and we are delighted to get him on board.
"He is a big character, not only his personality on the field, he is good in the dressing room too. He is very volatile and very physical and that is what we have got to have.
"We really are excited about getting him on board.
"I think he'll be a fans favourite and he absolutely loves that side of things."
Brodie started his career at Sunderland, making 15 appearances for the North East club. He then played over 200 games for Scarborough. His other clubs have included Doncaster Rovers, Swansea City and Chester City. He also joins the Bucks on a one year deal.
Reed said: "He's obviously got great credentials.
"Last year he played for Witton Albion and played when they beat us two nil and three nil but missed the play off semi final. He can play centre midfield, left midfield or can play up front as well.
"He is a really good player and there is flexibility about him and where he can play. I really do like him. He played for me at Stalybridge and he will be a great addition to us.
"He is 34 years old and is a fitness instructor so he is in the gym all day. From a fitness point of view, even though he is 34, he is at the top of the tree.
"When I spoke to him initially he said he was going to stay at Witton but then last week he saw we signed Mark Hume and thought we looked like we're putting a nice team together."
