Three competitors from the High Peak returned home from the recent martial arts World Championships with medals aplenty.
The trio of Rhys Roberts, Jacob Roberts and Kimberley Graf flew to Tuscany, Italy for this year’s unified World Championships.
The three are all members at Paul Roberts Modern Martial Arts, based in Chapel-en-le-Frith
The tournament brings together the cream of the crop in the martial arts from the WTKA, WKA and ICO organisations.
The four-day event had over 8,000 competitors from over 50 countries and drew in a spectacular total of over 45,000 spectators for its final day of action.
The Chapel contingent hugely impressed, so much so that they returned home with two golds and a silver medal.
Rhys met the eventual winner of the points fighting in the first round and lost by one point in the final seconds but then fought his way to gold in the sport weapons section.
Jacob went through the first round of eliminations for points fighting by beating his Irish opponent in impressive style.
However, he then went out after meeting the eventual winner in the next round.
In the team points event, he fought as the last man and took the team to the final where they lost to a homegrown Italian team to ensure they walked away with silver.
Jacob did however win gold in the sport weapons category.
Kimberley fought well in the sport weapons, winning her first two fights before eventually coming fourth in her section.
