A High Peak running club has announced a new training initiative as it celebrates two successful years since its formation.
Tideswell Running Club was formed in December 2011, with the intention of bringing together like-minded individuals who are enthusiastic about running and live in Tideswell or the surrounding areas.
The club currently has 15 active members, all of different abilities and levels of experience and they vary their routes each week to include a mix of road, trail and fell running.
The group set off from The Star Inn in Tideswell every Wednesday evening at 7.00pm.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Running is something all the members in the club enjoy and it is a great way of socialising whilst keeping fit in the process.
“We actively encourage new members to join the group regardless of their running ability.”
The club recently held its AGM when a new club committee was elected.
The new panel comprises of chairman Ben Brindley, club secretary Dan Allen, club treasurer Kathryn Brindley and route secretary Andrew Watkins.
Meanwhile, with the help of club member Sue Jeff, the committee have organised an exciting initiative to get the New Year underway.
The C25k Tideswell (Couch to 5km) training course has been organised with the intention of helping people start running for the first time, or to help people get back into running after a long period away from the sport.
The club will be hosting a training session every Monday evening at 7pm, commencing on Monday, January 6, 2014.
The course will help aid runners achieve their overall 5km (3.1 miles) target over a 12-week period.
