BUXTON RUFC finished off their season in style on Sunday, with both senior teams appearing in Derbyshire Cup finals on the same day for the first time.
Unfortunately the weather put a dampener on the celebrations with both teams narrowly losing to the heavier Amber Valley sides, who were more suited to the slow going and heavy pitches, with Buxton unable to get going their now trademark running and offloading game.
In two hard-fought contests, the second XV lost 18-0, with the first XV losing 15-0.
Head Coach Karl de Groot said: “Results aside, both teams and the club as a whole has progressed significantly this season and laid the foundation stones for further progression next season.”
l Buxton 2nd XV finished the season in fourth place in the University of Salford Division 5 South. Their final game, against Lymm 4th XV last Saturday, was awarded to their Cheshire hosts.
In Division 3 South, Hope Valley 1st XV finished sixth after their final game of the season, at Liverpool Collegiate 2nd XV, was awarded to the home team.
Hope Valley 2nd XV finished ninth in Division 5 East.
