FIVE members of Buxworth Cricket Club have walked nearly 60 miles in two days to raise over £1,000 to improve club facilities.

Chris Ripley, Alan Reynolds, Sam Hall, Kevin Benstead and Joe Hall visited all 22 club grounds in the Peak Sports Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League, starting at Buxton and finishing at Buxworth’s Western Lane ground.

First team captain Kevin Benstead said: “I am proud that we all stayed the course and achieved our goal.

“We are raising funds for our new all-weather practice nets, and to improve facilities for our growing number of younger players.”

Second team captain Sam Hall added: “You have to be fit to play cricket, but to walk for that distance needed a lot of determination from all of us.

“We hope to raise more than £1,000 from sponsorship.”

Anyone wishing to contribute to the sponsorship should contact Kevin Benstead on 07879 418 814.
