Thrilling end to the county championship

CAVENDISH Golf Club Lady member Kim Bradbury reached the final of the Derbyshire Ladies Championship.

But she lost out in the final to Midland Foursomes partner and friend Becky Wood.

The championship was held on Sunday May 10.

In the semi-final match, Kim defeated fellow Cavendish member and former Daily Mail Foursomes partner Megan Burgess 1up.

It was the first time the two had gone head to head, and the match held up to all expectations.

Kim secured the win, finishing the match with a birdie, eagle and par.

In the final, Kim played Midland Foursomes partner and friend Becky Wood.

Both players produced wonderful golf to thrill the spectators, but in the end the match was won by Becky.

However, the Trixie Salver, which is presented to the player with the lowest qualifying scores over 36 holes, was shared between Kim and Becky with a total gross score of 153.

The following week, the top 70 lady golfers in the country competed in the English Ladies Close Amateur Championships at Lindrick Golf Club.

The former Ryder Cup course was set at 6,350 yards in high winds, and Kim finished in tied 11th position to qualify for the match play rounds.

The event was eventually won by Charlie Douglass.

As a result of these championships, Kim now plays off a handicap of two.
