PUMA/New Century Taekwon-Do returned with 14 medals from the PUMA Northern Championships, held at Biddulph Leisure Centre.

Attracting competitors from as far afield as Bristol, Swindon, Exeter and Oxford, the competition started with the Little Pumas doing high kick and their drills. It also included musical patterns and bo-staff, followed by the junior division in high kick, patterns and sparring.

Buxton performed well, with Paul Wedgwood winning silver in the men’s pattern and his son Tom Wedgwood awarded silvers in patterns and sparring.

Kieron Martin also took part in patterns where he was awarded bronze.

Instructor Jonathan Williams said: “For some people it takes a lot of courage to even enter a competition and I am really happy with the determination and of course the results they all got.”
