Mather continues his rich vein of form

THE AGGREGATE Weekend at Cavendish Golf Club comprised the Foursomes Cup and a fourball betterball.

The former event was won by Gary Mather and Nick Allen with an excellent 41 points.

Second and third, both with 37 points, were Mike and Ben Higgins and Mike Oldfield and Barry Leighton.

In the fourball, the winners were Dave Armitt and Ken Hall with 43 points.

Second were Malc and Tom Forder after CPO from John Spencer and Simon Cornwell.

The overall weekend winners were Gary Mather and Nick Allen with 81 points, ahead of Malc and Tom Forder with 78 points.

Continuing in a rich vein of form, Gary Mather won The Buxton Trophy, the first of the joint Cavendish/High Peak competitions, with a superb score of 72-11=61.

Runner-up with the same brilliant score was Paul Clay (High Peak); third was Steve Bailey, 78-15=63; and fourth was Steve Bell, 70-6=64.

The best gross score went to Kevin Bloor with 70.

The next day featured the Craddock Hartopp mixed American greensomes, and the winners were Cavendish captain Arnie Bennett and High Peak's lady captain Gill Morris with 34 points.

In second place were Nick Whitehouse (Keddleston) and Anna Major with 33 points, ahead of Alasdair Carruthers and Helen Maber (Beeston Fields) who carded the same score.
