Cavendish Cup won in majestic style
THE CAVENDISH cup was won in majestic style by Jeff Place with a score of 71-10=61.
Runner-up was Simon Cornwell (71-6=65), while Alasdair Carruthers (71-6=65) was third.
The best gross score was a super 69 from Kevin Bloor, while the best full handicap went to Barry Cooke (87-22=65).
The following day, some 200 golfers competed in an open AM-AM medal. The winners were a Shirland team of D & A Hopkinson, P Owens & B Davies, with a 15 under par score of 121.
The Tapton team of G Levick, J Murby, J Vardy and T Ingman were second with a score of 123, after a CPO from I Mathers, S Lowe, D Thompson and W Barlow.
In fourth place were K Bloor, R Lee, M McDonald and N Bolton, also with 123, followed by S Bell, M Cartwright, A Lisser and I Creasy in fifth with 124.
Sixth place went to J Spencer, S & J Cornwell and A Hayward, also with 124.
