TITTERSWORTH Farm was the venue for Staffordshire Moorlands Motorcycle Club’s first trial of the new season.

Due to the wet ground conditions, the club set out a shorter course to preserve the farmland, and an encouraging entry of 49 riders completed four laps of ten observed sections.

The best performance on the Expert Route was young Welshman Iwan Roberts, who managed to stay clear of more experienced adult riders Corey Dubik and Nick Bull.

Roberts lost most of his marks on the extremely difficult section six but completed the rest of the course for only two marks to complete a very high quality performance.

Matt Timperley completed the 50/50 course without losing any marks. He was pressurised all day by Kev Hipwell on two, and his father Mark on six.

The clubmans’ winner was Andy Downham on his pre-1965 Triumph Tiger Cub, narrowly beating Chris Beech on his modern Gas Gas. Andy Hipwell on another P65, this time a BSA C15, finished third.

The club’s next trial will be the Bluestones Charity Cup on Easter Sunday April 8 at Blackshaw Farm.
