BUXTON Athletic Club runner Rob White had a belter of a race at the Manchester Marathon at the weekend.
White finished 63rd in the race, finishing in a stunning time of two hours, 58 minutes and 35 seconds for the distance - the first Buxton AC runner for several years to crack the three-hour barrier.
Also among the 4,800 runners taking part was Dan Feely, who came home in an excellent time of 03:34:01 in 699th place.
l The Bramhall Park event in the Parkrun series was attended by father and son Roland and Elliot Meylan at the weekend. Despite muddy and slippery conditions, Elliot came home in a very creditable time of 22:12 (63rd overall) while dad Roly finished in 22:48 (74th). Some 437 runners took part.
l Torrential rain and mud were the order of the day last Thursday when the Wilmslow AC-organised Goyt Valley 10k took place. Several Buxton AC runners took part: Nigel Critchlow (40th, 47:36); Mark Halsey (50th, 48:33); Pete Bailey (54th, 50:53); Dave Forshaw (91st, 56:45); Phil Wainwright (100th, 57:35); and Emma Havenhand (105th, 58:23).
l Also on the fells, Mark Halsey took part in the inaugural Masson Hill four-mile race at Matlock Bath, completing the event in 38:23, in 47th place from a field of 114.
l In Buxton AC’s junior section, the first of the championship events took place at Harpur Hill School recently.
The results were - under-eight boys: 1st, Josh Tatton; 2nd, Liam Phillips; 3rd, Kieran Webster. Under-eight girls: 1st, Lauren Wilshaw; 2nd, Tarrah Staden. Under-11 boys: 1st, William Tighe; 2nd, Ashleigh Webster; 3rd, Thomas Bradley; 4th, Sean Phillips; 5th, Ben Paterson. Under-11 girls: 1st, Emily Braddock; 2nd, Heather Wilshaw; 3rd, Thea Brooke Baird; 4th, Joanna Todd. Under-13 boys: 1st, Louis Forshaw Perring; 2nd, Elliot Meylan; 3rd, Ben Bradley; 4th, Joe Uprichard. Under-13 girls: 1st, Hannah Baker; 2nd, Nigella Beswick.
