THE BUXTON Triathlon is to make its return to the town on Sunday September 25.
Last year’s event had to be hosted in New Mills following delays to the refurbishment of Buxton Swimming Pool.
Race Director Simon Hill, of Xtra Mile Events, said: “We are so excited to finally be bringing this race back to Buxton again.
“It is a superb venue, with glorious views and a beautiful historic setting, and now with a stunning new pool the race will go from strength to strength.”
Two hundred and fifty people are expected to take part in this pool-based sprint distance triathlon, which starts with a 400-metre swim in the heated, indoor pool.
The triathletes will then head out on a 13-mile cycle ride, which is then followed by a three-mile run from the Pavilion Gardens and around the town.
The Buxton Triathlon is suitable for novices and serious athletes alike, although entrants are advised that the cycle section is challenging. Relay teams are welcome.
There will be prizes for winners in age categories from 16 to 85+, and even novice category prizes for those just starting out in the sport.
Staggered starts mean competitors will be racing against athletes of similar standards.
Competitors can also choose to fundraise for a charity of their choice, or for one of the event’s nominated charities: Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Epilepsy Research UK or the RNLI.
