Town triathlon is set to return

ENTRIES are now being invited for the 2011 Buxton Triathlon, which will take place on September 25.

The event is due to return to Buxton after the delayed refurbishment of the town’s pool forced the 2010 event to be held in New Mills.

It will involve a 400-metre swim in the indoor pool, followed by a 13-mile cycle ride and finally a three-mile run.

The Buxton Triathlon is suitable for novices and serious athletes, alike, however entrants are advised that the cycle section is challenging.

Relay teams are welcomed – where two or three friends, family or work colleagues share each of the disciplines.

There will be prizes for winners in age categories from 16 to 85-plus, and even novice category prizes.

Staggered starts mean competitors will be racing against athletes of similar standards.

Competitors can also fundraise for a charity of their choice, or for one of the event’s nominated charities: Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Epilepsy Research UK, and the RNLI.

The principal sponsor is www.Royles.biz, the UK’s leading supplier of triathlon products.
