BUXTON Raceway staged an action-packed day of BriSCA F1 Stock Car racing on Sunday, with 18 vehicles in attendance.
Heat one saw Frankie Wainman Jnr (515) roll on turn four after a shove towards the fence from Tom Harris (84), causing a race stoppage. Dan Johnson (4) took advantage by overtaking Luke Davidson (464) to take the win, followed by Luke and Lee Fairhurst (217).
Heat two was won by Johnson, followed over the line by Matt Newson (16) and Luke Davidson.
The final was a cracking race with the Superstars and Reds at each others bumpers for the whole race. With an incident on turn two causing a race stoppage, Luke Davidson took advantage of the rolling lap start to eventually take the chequered flag, but was later taken out of the results for a post-race scrutineering issue.
This gave the win to Tom Harris, who was followed over the line by Mike Sworder (15) and Lee Fairhurst.
Harris took his lap handicap in the Grand National but was only able to get back up to eighth place, with a flying pack of Superstars and Reds chasing him down.
Lee Fairhurst was the eventual winner of the Grand National, followed by Mike Sworder and man of the day Johnson.
Buxton Raceway returns to racing on Bank Holiday Monday June 4 with their Annual Northern and Midland Caravan race. Also in attendance will be the BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, 1600 CC Bangers and 1300cc Saloon Stock Cars completing the contact racing line-up. For fans of non-contact racing, the Hot Rods are for you.
