Squash: Buxton cruise to win but tougher tests lie ahead

Buxton squash team did not slip up against Knutsford thirds in their latest outing, as they maintained their hunt for a promotion spot thanks to a 20-3 win.

Colin Andrews went on first, on a cold court and once he’d warmed up, cruised through to victory against his opponent.

Steve Hollick played a far younger player, who was difficult to wear out and wouldn’t stop running.

In the end Steve’s experience told as he sealed a 3-2 success.

Rick Walters was next up and he took no mercy as he tore through the games to seal a win, with his opponent only winning the occasional point.

Howard Pearson then won at a canter, 3-0.

From the spectator’s balcony, Howard looked like he was playing well, but he was not satisfied, which is a good sign for him with some tough matches ahead.

Steve Coates controlled his game from the start, keeping the ball well away from his opponent.

The score was never in doubt and Steve won 3-0.

Buxton’s next match is Thursday February 19 at home to fellow promotion contenders Alderley Edge.
