A HIGH Peak lacrosse star has been selected to represent town and county in the USA.
Holly Cartledge, from New Mills, who has been playing lacrosse since she was six-years-old, plays for Cheshire and was also recently selected to play for Stockport Metros.
While playing for her town team Mellor, Holly was spotted by a match scout from Stockport Metros who approached her to play for the Stockport team, with whom she’ll now travel to America next year.
She said: “I’ll play seven matches while I’m in America and then a girl from the American team we’ll play will come over here after the summer holidays, as part of an exchange.
“It’s such an exciting opportunity and I’m proud to be playing with some of the best lacrosse players in the area.”
Holly, a year nine pupil at Cheadle Hulme School, added: “As part my trials for the Cheshire lacrosse team, I had to endure a rigorous training and fitness session against players from across the county, so I’m really excited to put my skills to the test in the USA.”
