Buxton AC’s Jason Bennett joined the prestigious sub-three hour marathon club last weekend.

Running in the Brighton Marathon, Bennett finished in 90th position from a huge field of over 8,500 runners after a fantastic time of 2 hours, 59 minutes and 11 seconds, knocking a sizeable 22 minutes off his previous best marathon time.

Closer to home, Steve Radcliffe and Hayley Errington ran their first marathons at Manchester, finishing in 3.55.21 and 4.47.51 respectively.

The Sheffield Half Marathon descended into farce at the weekend where, despite organisers cancelling at the last minute due to water shortages, most of the 5,000 runners decided they would run regardless.

Buxton’s Emma Havenhand was rewarded with a great time of 1.50.42.

Kevin Mottram and Helen Brunt both claimed personal best times in the Derby 10K at the weekend.

Kevin’s time was 42.10 and Helen finished in 50.24.

The popular monthly Gardens 5K will take place on Saturday April 12 at 9am from Broad Walk.
