BUXTON Athletic Club had a great turnout at the local Taddington Lanes 4.5 mile road and trail race last week.
From a field of 51 runners, Rob White was the first Buxton club runner home in a time of 27.19 (9th), followed by Mark Halsey (13th, 28.05), newcomer Rachel Chatwin (15th and second lady, 28.20), Mark Pursell (17th, 29.13), Pete Bailey (25th, 30.23), Roland Meylan (26th, 30.25), Sheila Bradley (32nd, 32.19), Emma Havenhand (35th, 34.38) and Brian Kirman (40th, 36.56).
Former Buxton runner Andrew Whittingham stormed home in third place.
Continuing with the popular Parkruns, Pete Bailey ran a personal best 21.45 for the 5k course at Marple last Saturday, finishing 14th from a field of 91 runners.
Over at Sheffield, Emma Havenhand ran 24.16 to finish tenth from a field of 266 runners.
Making the long journey to Fleetwood to take part in the half marathon, Sheila Bradley was rewarded with first place in the female over-55 category, completing the course in a time of 1.40.46 to finish 117th overall from 416 runners.
The next race in Buxton AC’s annual club championships is the cross-country event, which will take place on Wednesday September 5 at 7.15pm, starting at the sports pavilion on Temple Fields, Green Lane. All club members are invited to take part.
