Regional hill climb success

ON THE weekend when Mark Cavendish became the first British rider since 1965 to win the World Road Race Champion, a High Peak youngster gained first place in the British Schools Cycling Association (BSCA) regional hill climb event.

Nine-year-old Alexander Barton, of Whaley Bridge Primary School, followed up his earlier success at the BSCA time-trial in July, when he was placed first in the East Midlands and fourth overall.
