The 23-year-old Chapel professional hopes to take his record to 12 wins and no defeats on 18th March when he faces Jarek Prusak.

Cruiserweight Massey predicts that Prusak, nine years his senior, will be a tough opponent.

“He’s won eight of his 11 fights, with eight stoppages, and he’s lost three,” he said.

“He’s a bit of a step up, he comes to fight, it’s going to be a good night.”

Prusak is on a three-fight losing streak, having initially compiled an 8-0 record in his native Poland.

His first defeat came in Latvia in 2016, before he was stopped in bouts in Belfast and Birmingham by prospects Gary Sweeney and Dan Cooper respectively.

Massey knows a little about the 32-year-old, enough to work on a specific gameplan in the gym.

“He’s a little bit smaller than me, he comes inside and looks to work inside,” said Massey.

“I’ve been working on fastboxing and using a bit of my reach.”

Massey has been in training camp for 10 weeks now and says he keeps boredom away by reminding himself that he’s not just working for this next fight.

He admits he has one eye on the future.

“Training is going great, everything is going to plan,” he said.

“I’ve got to think I’m learning, as well as preparing, you never stop learning.

“I’ve got to think of the future fights as well.

“I’m training to become the best I can possibly be in future fights.”
