SPORTY pupils at Harpur Hill Primary School are to represent Buxton in a High Peak-wide athletics competition.

They amassed a total of 720 points in a local primary school sports hall athletics competition, held at Buxton Community School on Monday January 10.

Teacher Sue Fox, from Harpur Hill School, said: “Nearly 100 children took part in an exciting afternoon demonstrating athletic skills in javelin, long jump, speed bounce, etc, and various relay races.”

Harpur’s boys finished first in all the track and field events, while the girls were first in the field events, as well as in four of the six track events.

The team will represent Buxton in the High Peak competition, where they will compete against the winning schools from Chapel-en-le-Frith, New Mills and Glossop on Wednesday February 16.
