The oldest rider in British speedway says he is relishing the 2015 season.

48-year-old Tony Atkin was unveiled last week as Buxton Hitmen’s second signing for the new campaign, following in the footsteps of Adam Extance.

Atkin says he was delighted to have re-committed to the club and is now itching to get started in the National League.

“I only really wanted to ride for Buxton next year.

“I enjoy the track and hope we can enjoy a good team spirit like last year.

“I hope to carry on where I left off last season.

“My personal aim is to hold my average and see team finish a more respectable mid-table position.

“I am pleased Adam will be back and I’d like to help other riders move forward.

“I hope we can retain some of last year’s team so that we can build on what we have.”

Team Boss Jayne Moss added: “Tony was always pivotal to our team-building plans for 2015.”
