New signings for Hitmen

NATIONAL League champions Buxton Hitmen have made their first signings of 2011.

Former Hitman Ben Taylor joins the Hi-Edge club on loan from Birmingham and will take on the number one spot that had been reserved for Charles Wright, who has decided to focus solely on his career with Premier League outfit Workington Comets.

Twenty-year-old Taylor spent most of last season on the sidelines recovering from a wrist injury. But club promoter Jayne Moss said: “He is looking forward to getting back on track and hopefully scoring plenty of points as we all know he can although he obviously needs to get back race fit after a season out.

“Ben was always popular at Buxton and I’m sure the supporters will welcome him back.”

John McPhail, 23, who has made a number of past appearances for the Hitmen as cover, also joins last season’s treble winners, on loan from Berwick. He is relishing an opportunity to stake a claim for one of the reserve spots for the coming season.

“This year I am aiming to progress and move up into the main body of the team and hopefully end the season as a high points scorer,” McPhail added.
