NEW MILLS Golf Club is to host a round of a county-wide mini tour for promising young golfers.
The Derbyshire Futures Tour is aimed at boys and girls under the age of 14. Players do not need to be member of a club to enter.
A series of eight and nine-hole competitions will be held across Derbyshire - including at New Mills on July 15 - with results counting towards an Order of Merit.
Nigel Furniss, county development officer for Derbyshire Golf, said: “This is a great opportunity for young golfers to pit their wits against each other in a competitive, but friendly atmosphere, and test their skills on a variety of different courses.”
Prizes are available in three age categories: under-14 order of merit for boys and girls (born 1998-99, no CONGU handicap); under-12 order of merit boys and girls (born 2000-2001); under-ten order of merit boys and girls (born 2002-05).
The programme of events is: July 1, Shirland Golf Club; July 8, Tapton Park GC; July 15, New Mills GC; July 22, Breadsall Priory GC; August 5, Alfreton GC; August 19, Bakewell GC; August 26, Ashbourne GC.
An Order of Merit final will be held in September, with the prize presentation evening being held in October.
