Netball: Ladybugs pull off victory thanks to Clarke’s control

The first game of the evening was the A Division meeting between Ladybugs and Taxal.

This was a close game and at the break Ladybugs had edged ahead leading 10-9. In the second half Charlotte Coulston remained strong for Taxal, but with Lisa Clarke controlling the centre court for Ladybugs they managed to pull away and prosper 22-13.

Pink Ladies against Chinley B was a close-fought first half, with few goals as Chinley led 3-2 at the break.

In the second half both teams were strong in defence, with Abi Burbidge for Pink Ladies making some excellent interceptions.

However, Julie Forte at goal defence for Chinley B was equal to her and kept the Pink Ladies’ shooting opportunities to the minimum as she helped her team to a 10-5 victory.

Goodies versus Chinley C was a tight affair up until the break, with the former leading 7-5.

After that Goodies edged ahead and stepped up a gear as they took control with Fiona Duncan making some excellent interceptions and feeding her shooters well, enabling them to take the points 20-5.

Nouveaux against Shots was arguably the game of the evening with some excellent netball from both teams.

Nouveaux edged ahead to lead 14-10 at the interval.

In the second half Pauline Hambleton for Nouveaux took control of the defence and kept the Shots shooting opportunities to the minimum and despite some equally good defending by Emma Bennett from Shots, Nouveaux eased to a 24-12 success.

The final game of the night saw a rampant Lasses side overcome Rems 29-12.
