Nervy finish to Macclesfield friendly

Macclesfield 3rd XI 5, Buxton 2nd XI 6

BUXTON 2nd XI were winning comfortably 6-2, before conceding three goals in the last 20 minutes to just squeeze a win.

Buxton opened the scoring when a J Lomas shot from outside the circle was deflected in by the goalkeeper.

Soon after, Heathcote’s slap hit at a short corner was saved by a defender, but Danson was on hand to tap in the rebound. Macclesfield pulled a goal back from a short corner and drew level by half-time.

A purple patch in the second half saw the Bucks storm ahead with four more goals. Midfielder Heathcote made the pass of the match to striker Talbot, who hit home following a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Heathcote scored with an assist from Sewell, who was also the provider for A Wood, usually an ice-hockey player, who tapped-in at the far left post. Sewell scored the sixth from the spot after a penalty was awarded for a defender stopping his shot with his leg.

In the last 15 minutes, the home side took advantage of disarray in the Bucks’ defence with three well-taken goals, two from short corners.
