Mixed results for Peak sides

THE HIGH 5 and the under-12s of High Peak Netball Club played in their second tournament recently at Calow, Chesterfield.

Both teams have improved considerably since they last played at Etwall. They were short of one player and borrowed players from the other teams to make up their quota.

The under-12 team of Nadine Parkinson, Jess Smith, Jordan Smith, Chloe Ashmore, Annie Baldwin and Louisa Hobson struggled against the established teams of Ashbourne and Calow, but the team could be seen improving as the matches progressed and the scores in the second half of the Grand Prix were closer.

The High 5 team was closer to full strength than in the last Grand Prix, and this showed in the scores that the team recorded despite it being the first match some of the players had played for the club.

The team lost heavily to Ashbourne, who were the team of the tournament. Against Calow, the High Peak team of Charlotte Burton, Hannah Baker, Rebecca McDonald, Emily Bloor, Charlotte Peacock, Megan Linguard drew the first game 4-4 and won the second game 4-2. Peacock deserves a special mention as she came from playing football to play in the Grand Prix, and played well.

The next tournament is at Allestree on March 24.
