TWO YOUNG golfers from Buxton & High Peak Golf Club were among the prize winners of the Derbyshire Golf Junior Order of Merit.
The Junior Order of Merit gives young players in the county who have CONGU handicaps the opportunity to compete in a series of Junior Opens and accumulate points based on their performances towards the Order of Merit.
Seventeen clubs participated during 2011 and results from the Derbyshire Girls and Derbyshire Boys Championships were also included in the Order of Merit.
Charley Mycock (U18 net) and Matthew Bailey (U16 net), both from Buxton & High Peak, were among the prize-winners.
Nigel Furniss, county development officer for the Derbyshire Golf Partnership, said: “The Junior Order of Merit project goes from strength to strength in its second year.
“It is providing a competitive platform for young golfers in the county to compare their skills, and for county selectors to use when naming coaching squads.”
