Medals scooped at county swimming event

Local swimmers scooped numerous medals at the Derbyshire swimming long course sprint championships, held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield recently.

Buxton’s Amy Johnson (pictured, second left) won two silvers in the 50m breaststroke and freestyle, the latter in which she broke Buxton Swimming Club’s record, and a bronze in the 50m butterfly

Sophie Byrne (pictured, far left) finally gained a much deserved first medal in the County Championships, swimming into third place in the 50m breaststroke.

Ellie Vernon swam with great confidence and smashed her personal best time finishing in the silver medal position in the her age group in the 50m butterfly.

Elsewhere, Chloe Foster finished fifth in the 50m breaststroke, whilst there was also good swims and PB times for Ben Prince, Tom Prince, Rhiannon Foster, Ruth Winkless, Patrick Cooper and Lily Howard.
